Description
In her works, Latvian writer, playwright and poet Inga Ābele manages to combine the atmosphere of a specific place and time, i.e. contemporary Latvia with all its socio-economic and moral problems, with themes and issues that are timeless and universal.
Oysters takes place over the course of one evening in the living room of a new, lavish family home, where personal and family stories come to the surface, including questions about whether one has the right to judge another at all.
Family and interpersonal relationships are also thematised in Jasmine, this time against the backdrop of the unstable economic conditions of post-communist Latvia. It is the story of a family that owns an old house with a large garden that is under foreclosure.
