Description
The publication specifies regularity and robustness as the desired properties for the documentation of the state of the sector subject to a definition (i.e. which theaters can be classed as independent). The surveys follows a particular time period, considers volume and size of the institutions (i.e. how many such theaters there are, what revenues they generate, what the structure of their costs is, and to what extent the funding consists of their own compared to other resources, e.g. grants, subsidies etc.). Finally, the methodology suggests that performance indicators (i.e. the number of productions or other activities organised, the performance venue, audience capacity and attendance) should also be studied.
